Bodies of Nine Recovered in Rasuwa Floods, 19 Still Missing

KATHMANDU, JULY 8

Bodies of nine individuals who fell victim to the flash floods in Rasuwa earlier today have been recovered, with one body found in Chitwan tonight.

According to the latest update from Nepal Police Headquarters, 19 people remain missing. The body of Assistant Inspector of Police Lal Bahadur Shrestha, who had been swept away by the flood in Rasuwa, was recovered from the banks of the Trishuli River at a location known as '15 Kilo' in Chitwan.

Nepal Police Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire, stated that those missing include two police officers, six Chinese nationals, and 11 civilians. So far, 57 individuals have been rescued.

A total of 383 police personnel have been mobilized for the ongoing rescue operations. The floods also swept away the Miteri Bridge along the Nepal–China border, 24 containers, six trucks, and 35 electric vehicles. Additionally, the road from Dhunche to Timure has been blocked.

Significant damage has also been reported at the dam of the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project and the yard of the Rasuwa Customs Office.
