Govt Doubles Health Insurance Coverage to Rs 200,000 for Serious Illnesses

KATHMANDU, JULY 9
Citizens enrolled in the health insurance programme will now receive up to Rs 200,000 for healthcare services.
Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel announced that the coverage under the health insurance scheme has been doubled. The decision will take effect from July 17, coinciding with the start of the new fiscal year 2082/83 BS.
Sharing the update on his social media today, Minister Paudel stated that the scheme will cover treatment costs for eight serious illnesses.
He expressed hope that this decision would bring relief to patients struggling to afford medical care for life-threatening conditions.
According to the Ministry, patients suffering from cancer, heart disease, kidney ailments, head and spinal injuries, sickle cell anemia, Parkinson's disease, and Alzheimer's will be eligible for up to Rs 200,000 in coverage under the scheme.
