Teacher detained for sending inappropriate message to student, school vandalized in Rautahat

A secondary school teacher in Rautahat district has been taken into police custody after allegedly sending an inappropriate birthday message to a female student, triggering outrage among locals and leading to vandalism at the school.
The incident occurred at Shripur Secondary School in Garuda Municipality-9, where Ravindra Prasad Sah, a teacher, reportedly sent a message saying 'Happy Birthday, Meri Jaan' to a 16-year-old Grade 10 student. The message sparked anger among students and guardians, who confronted the school as soon as it opened on Sunday morning.
Enraged locals pelted stones and damaged school property, demanding strict action against the teacher.
Police from the Garuda Area Police Office, led by Inspector Om Prakash Yadav, fired a round of tear gas to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control, according to DSP Rajan Karki.
Following the incident, all students and teachers were sent home. Police have detained teacher Sah and stated that an investigation is ongoing.
DSP Karki confirmed that the situation is now under control.
