KATHMANDU, JULY 15
Traffic movement along the Kavrepalanchowk section of the BP Highway will be restricted for 12 hours nightly, starting July 17, as a precautionary measure during the monsoon season.
A meeting of the District Security Committee held today at the District Administration Office, Dhulikhel, decided to ban vehicular movement from Kavrebhanjyang to Nepalthok, near the Sindhuli border, from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM for one month.
The decision follows concerns over potential disasters due to heightened monsoon activity, including risks of floods and landslides in the area.
Earlier, District Security Committees from Kavrepalanchowk, Ramechhap, and Sindhuli, along with the Inter-District Coordination Committee, had enforced a similar vehicle restriction from 6:30 PM to 6:00 AM, which had been in effect from June 21 to July 16.
Chief District Officer of Kavrepalanchowk, Umesh Dahakal, stated that vehicles coming from Kathmandu will be halted at Kavrebhanjyang, while those heading toward the capital will be stopped at Nepalthok, on the Sindhuli side, to minimize risks posed by potential natural disasters.
