Chitwan records 3,889 dengue cases in FY 2024/25

KATHMANDU, JULY 20

A total of 3,889 dengue cases were recorded in Chitwan district in the fiscal year 2024/25, according to the Public Health Office.

Of the total, 3,020 cases were reported within Chitwan-1,548 men and 1,472 women-while 869 cases involved individuals from other districts, including 412 men and 457 women.

Bharatpur Metropolitan City recorded the highest number of infections with 1,171 cases, while Madi Municipality had the lowest with 37. One death due to dengue was reported during the year.

In total, 17,353 dengue tests were conducted in the district during the fiscal year. This marks a significant rise from the previous fiscal year, when 1,831 cases were detected out of 23,840 tests.

Dengue was first detected in Nepal in 2004 in a Japanese tourist visiting Chitwan. The Public Health Office continues to emphasize that the primary prevention method is avoiding mosquito bites.
