Visa opens Kathmandu Office, appoints Manoj Thapa as head of Nepal operations
Move marks deeper commitment to Nepal's digital payment landscape

Visa, the global leader in digital payments, has formally inaugurated its dedicated Nepal office in Kathmandu, reaffirming its long-term commitment to supporting Nepal's transition toward a cashless economy.
The new office aims to expand access to secure and seamless digital payment solutions for consumers and merchants across the country. Visa's entry is positioned as a strategic step to support Nepal's growing digital financial ecosystem.
Alongside the office launch, Manoj Thapa has been appointed as Visa's Head of Nepal business. In his new role, Thapa will focus on strengthening local partnerships and advancing innovative payment solutions tailored to Nepal's evolving market. He will report to Sabbir Ahmed, Country Manager for Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan at Visa.

Originally from Nepal, Manoj brings over a decade of experience in the payments and financial services industry. Prior to joining Visa, he served as Head of Partnerships & Innovation at Fonepay, where he played a key role in cross-border payment initiatives. He has also held leadership roles at LivQuik Technology Pvt. Ltd. in India.
