KATHMANDU, AUGUST 11

At least three people were killed and 15 others injured when a passenger bus and a microbus collided head-on along the East-West Highway in Bhokraha Narsingha Rural Municipality-3, Sunsari, on Monday morning.

According to District Police Office Sunsari spokesperson Yograj Khatiwada, the accident occurred at around 7:15 a.m. when a bus (Me 1 Kha 1799) traveling to Diktel from Kakadbhitta, Jhapa, and a microbus (Province 2-01-001 Ja 0047) coming from the opposite direction crashed.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed. The injured were taken to hospitals in Inaruwa and Biratnagar.

Police have detained bus driver Gopal Adhikari of Arjundhara Municipality-1, Jhapa, for investigation.
