Apollo doctors share advances in gastroenterology and neurology at Kathmandu conference

Doctors highlight latest diagnostic and treatment technologies at Hilton Hotel event

Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals showcased cutting-edge developments in gastroenterology and neurology during a press conference held at Hilton Hotel, Naxal Hall, on August 16. Two senior specialists from the hospital, Dr. Sanjay Sikka and Dr. P.N. Renjen, highlighted how advanced technologies are transforming diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes.

Dr. Sanjay Sikka, Senior Consultant in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, discussed Apollo's advanced approach to treating gastrointestinal, liver, and pancreatic diseases. 'Our focus is on delivering precise diagnosis, advanced therapeutic endoscopy, and personalized care to improve patient outcomes,' Dr Sikka stated.

The hospital's services include high-definition diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, capsule endoscopy, oesophageal pH monitoring, and manometry, according to the press release issued by the hospital.

For complex conditions, Apollo offers ERCP, EUS, EMR, ESD, EHL, and advanced procedures like spyglass cholangioscopy and pancreatoscopy. Specialized services such as POEM (Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy), a dedicated liver clinic with transplant support, and a same-day Endoscopic Suite were also highlighted.

Dr. P.N. Renjen, Senior Consultant in Neurology, outlined the hospital's expertise in managing stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, and neuromuscular diseases. 'Neurology has seen remarkable advancements in recent years, and timely intervention with the right technology can significantly improve patient recovery and quality of life,' Dr Renjen noted.

Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, India's first JCI-accredited hospital, has pioneered several medical technologies. It recently introduced the ZAP-X Gyroscopic Radiosurgery Platform for brain tumor treatment - a non-invasive alternative to traditional brain surgery. The hospital also offers RADIXACT-X9, which combines imaging and treatment delivery for precise cancer care, the release further stated.
