KATHMANDU, AUGUST 31
Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, has announced that urea fertilizer from India will be readily available within the next ten days.
Speaking at an event in Chandrauta today, he stated that the consignment of fertilizer imported from Kolkata is expected to arrive within seven to ten days, ensuring farmers' easy access to it. He further assured that there would be no shortage of fertilizer this season.
Minister Adhikari underscored that fertilizer distribution should be based on the size of arable land and the agricultural output of each district.
'We must prioritize genuine farmers in fertilizer distribution so that those cultivating larger areas do not face economic losses due to shortages,' he remarked.
Similarly, Abdul Kalam, the district president of the Nepali Congress and mayor of Maharajgunj Municipality, stressed the need to make the government's fertilizer distribution mechanism more efficient.
District vice president of the Nepali Congress, Umakant Khanal, suggested formulating plans to provide farmers with fertilizers, seeds, and other essential inputs ahead of the rainy season starting next year.
