KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 1

At least 45 houses have been submerged in Kanchanpur district following incessant rainfall since Sunday night, according to the District Police Office.

Floodwaters from the Jogbudha River inundated 25 houses in Rampure and Jarga (Dodhara Chandani-8) and 15 houses in Patarakhalla (Dodhara Chandani-3). Another five houses were affected in Bhujela (Bhimdatta-11).

Police said at least 70 people have been displaced and are currently sheltering in nearby school buildings.

Meanwhile, the Mahakali River's water level has surged to 140,250 cusecs, prompting Indian authorities to restrict the movement of four- and three-wheelers across the Sharada Barrage.
