KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 11

The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has urged all licensed banks, development banks, finance companies, and payment-related institutions to resume essential banking and digital payment services amid current restrictions.

In a notice issued today, the central bank emphasized that institutions must maintain business continuity by operating sensitive systems with limited staff. Other systems should be managed through remote access based on risk assessment.

The directive comes in line with the prohibitory order issued by the Nepali Army on Sept. 10. BFIs have also been asked to keep the public informed about operational branches, ATMs, and available services via their websites and social media channels.

This move ensures uninterrupted access to essential financial services while safeguarding operational security.
