KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 11

The Supreme Court (SC) has decided to resume the regular hearing of cases and the registration of writ petitions for habeas corpus starting this Sunday.

An emergency meeting of the SC Full Court, held on Thursday, resolved to restore the Court's operations beginning Sunday (September 14).

In a press release issued after the meeting, Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut reaffirmed his commitment to resuming judicial proceedings at the earliest in order to address the public's demand for access to justice.

He further underscored his unwavering dedication to safeguarding citizens' fundamental rights and ensuring justice, pledging to uphold the constitutional responsibilities entrusted to the judiciary even under such adverse circumstances.

The Chief Justice also lamented that nearly all major documents of Nepal's judicial history had been destroyed in the recent fire and arson, calling it an 'unimaginable loss.'
