KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 12

President Ram Chandra Paudel has agreed to dissolve the House of Representatives and declare a state of emergency under Article 273(1) of the Constitution.

Following intensive discussions at the President's Office, Sheetal Niwas, since Friday morning, an understanding was reached to appoint former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as the head of an interim government, according to the President's Press Advisor Kiran Pokhrel.

The move aligns with the demands of the protesting Gen-Z demonstrators, who have been calling for immediate dissolution of Parliament and the formation of a non-partisan interim administration.

Karki is expected to take the oath of office as interim prime minister around 9 p.m. tonight, Pokhrel added.
