Petroleum imports via Birgunj cross Rs 26.3bln in two months

Diesel remains largest share of imports and revenue

BIRGUNJ, SEPTEMBER 23

Nepal imported petroleum products worth Rs 26.33 billion through the Birgunj customs point in the first two months of the current fiscal year-an increase of Rs 1.76 billion compared to the same period last year.

During this period, a total of 132,824 kiloliters of diesel valued at Rs 11.91 billion was imported from Birgunj, generating Rs 5.28 billion in customs revenue.

Meanwhile 80,560 kiloliters worth Rs 6.82 billion of petrol were imported, contributing Rs 4.54 billion in revenue.

Similarly, Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) imports were recorded at 49.6 million kilos with a customs value of Rs 5.12 billion.
