KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 29

The Department of Prison Management says 651 of the 1,280 inmates who fled Nakkhu Prison during the September 8–9 Gen Z demonstrations remain at large.

So far, 587 have voluntarily returned or been relocated to other facilities.

Authorities have set an October 6 deadline for the remaining escapees to surrender at the nearest police station or prison, warning of legal action if they fail to comply.

Families, local governments, security agencies, and the media have been urged to assist in locating and returning the missing prisoners.
