Gen Z Protest survivor: Pratish Shrestha

By Skanda Gautam

Nisha Pradhan, the wife of thirty-three-year-old Pratish Shrestha of Baneshwor, helps him towards the restroom in his hospital bed in KMC Hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Monday, September 29, 2025, after being shot in the thigh by live ammunition outside the federal parliament on September 8. His wife, Nisha Pradhan, and friends care for him as Dashain passes in the hospital ward. He says the conditions are noisy and frustrating in the hospital, wishing only for quiet. Pratish is survived by his wife, young son, and parents. “Whatever happened, happened—rich or poor, many died. Now the government must look after education, jobs, and health,” he says. His wife adds in frustration, “If money like that of former prime ministers was found in our homes, we’d be jailed, but they still walk free. After all this bloodshed, what will be the outcome?”
