KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 5

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by recent heavy rains in Nepal, extending solidarity and support to the Nepali people and government.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi wrote, 'The loss of lives and damage caused by heavy rains in Nepal is distressing. We stand with the people and Government of Nepal in this difficult time. As a friendly neighbour and first responder, India remains committed to providing any assistance that may be required.'

The message comes as several parts of Nepal continue to grapple with the aftermath of incessant rainfall that triggered landslides, floods, and transport disruptions across the country.
