Youth drowns while bathing in Lakhandehi River in Sarlahi

Eighteen-year-old swept away by strong current; police recover body after search

SARLAHI, OCTOBER 7

An 18-year-old youth drowned while bathing in the Lakhandehi River at Bhadsar, Malangwa Municipality–5 of Sarlahi district on Tuesday morning.

According to the District Police Office, Sarlahi, Om Thakur, son of local resident Binod Thakur, was swept away by the river around 11:30 a.m. while bathing with three friends. The other youths managed to escape unharmed.

A police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Jalandhar Prasad Yadav recovered Thakur's body around 1:00 p.m., police said.

The body has been taken to Provincial Hospital, Malangwa for post-mortem examination, while police have initiated an investigation into the incident, informed DSP Saroj Rai, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Sarlahi.
