Dog gets Rs 1,500 as monthly salary

DAMAK: A dog that has been guarding sub-branch office of Nepal Red Cross Society at Damak in Jhapa will now get a monthly salary of Rs 1,500. This was decided today in a meeting of the NRCS working committee. The decision was made as the dog was guarding the office during the night. Man Bahadur Budhathoki, president of the sub-branch said, "Meeting of the working committee decided to provide the cash as an allowance," The dog appeared at the office premises ten days ago. The employees tried to scare away the dog but it did not leave the place. According to Lila Guragain, secretary at the sub-branch, the remuneration would be spent on food, sanitation and treatment. From the cash, the dog would get rice and milk on daily basis and meat twice a week. The dog has been guarding the office at nights and not allowing people except the employees to enter, employees at the office claimed.
