CIAA files chargesheet against eight in Tripurasundari Road Project Irregularities

KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 10
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a chargesheet against eight individuals, including the then Chief Administrative Officer of Tripurasundari Municipality in Dolpa, at the Special Court today.
According to the CIAA, the chargesheet names the then Acting Chief Administrative Officer of Tripurasundari Municipality, Lal Prasad Pokharel, Engineer Karna Bahadur Karki, Administrative Officer Hirachandra Dharala, Education Officer Bhim Bahadur Thapa, Senior Accounts Assistant Rupchandra Budha, and MIS Operator Harichandra Bista as defendants.
They have been charged with committing financial irregularities during the road upgrading project from Khadang to Lha in Ward No. 5 of the municipality in the fiscal year 2078/79, said CIAA Spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Poudel.
Shishir Kumar Gurung, a member of the bid evaluation committee involved in assessing the project's procurement process, along with Divyanirman Sewa Pvt. Ltd. Dunai, Dolpa, and Bhimraj Neupane of the construction company, have also been named as defendants.
The CIAA has sought a fine of Rs 5,589,063 from the accused for offences committed under Section 17 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 BS.
