KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 12

The number of political parties registered with the Election Commission for election purposes has reached 125. Following the announcement of the March 2026 House of Representatives election, 21 new parties have applied for registration, while some existing ones have merged or split.

The EC will publish a formal notice on November 14, calling both existing and new parties to register within 10 days. Only registered parties will be eligible to participate in the proportional electoral system.

Recently, Kabir Sop-led and Harka Sampang-led parties were among those registered, while the Bamdev Gautam-led Nepal Communist Party Unification National Campaign was annulled.
