Department of Passport to Procure 700,000 E-Passports

KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 21

The government has authorized the Department of Passport to procure 700,000 units of e-passports for the time being.

A Cabinet meeting held on Friday allowed the Department to move forward with purchasing the e-passports from the current supplier through a variation order until the issuance of e-passports under the new contract begins.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, shared this information on Friday.

The Cabinet meeting also decided to permit a Nepali delegation led by Energy Secretary Chiranjivi Chataut to attend the meeting of the Nepal–Bangladesh Energy Joint Taskforce and Joint Steering Committee, scheduled for November 26–27.

Dipak Shrestha from Gorkha district has been appointed as the Member Secretary of the Lumbini Development Council.

The government has also approved the organizational structure and staff quotas for the Consumers' Court and the Child Court.

Additionally, Rina Rana, a member of the Indigenous Peoples' Commission, has been granted permission to attend a seminar to be held in Lhasa, Tibet, China, from November 24 to 26.
