KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 22

The Election Commission (EC) has added 837,094 new voters to its rolls after the voter registration period closed at midnight on Thursday, ahead of the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.

According to the EC, 344,914 people registered through biometric enrollment, while 492,180 registered using their National ID - a provision introduced later that saw strong public response.

Prime Minister Sushila Karki confirmed the close of the registration window through a social media post.

As of November 2, 18,168,023 citizens had reached the age of 18 and become eligible to register.

The deadline, initially set for November 16, was extended to November 21 due to high demand and requests from stakeholders.
