Govt to provide education, health, and employment support for those injured in Gen Z Uprising

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 8 The government has decided to move forward with arrangements for education, health, and employment support for individuals injured during the 'Gen-Z Uprising.' A cabinet meeting held today approved the Gen Z Injured Relief Assistance Procedure 2082, which aims to provide assistance to those injured or disabled during the September protests, according to Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel. The meeting also decided to honour the late journalist Suresh Rajak-who lost his life during the demonstrations at Tinkune, Kathmandu, on 28 March 2025-by declaring him a martyr. Similarly, for the fiscal year 2025/26, the minimum purchase price for sugarcane produced by farmers has been set at Rs 620 per quintal. As per the Cabinet decision, the government will continue offering a subsidy of Rs 70 per quintal to farmers. Likewise, the list of poor households from ten districts has been endorsed. A total of 27 families have been approved, including those from Tehrathum, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat–Susta East and West), Parbat, Morang, and Sunsari. In addition, the Financial Procedures and Fiscal Responsibility (Second Amendment) Regulation 2082 has been approved. The Cabinet has also decided to promote Joint Secretary Rajendra Kumar Paudel to the vacant Secretary position in the special category under the Nepal Administrative Service.
