KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 11 Prime Minister Sushila Karki has stated that the government has initiated a cleanup drive to combat corruption. PM Karki made the remarks while receiving a memorandum from the Jay Matribhumi Party on Thursday. 'It is not enough for political parties to merely deliver speeches; their focus should be on productive work,' she said, urging the party to actively engage in the upcoming elections and work for the welfare of the people. She expressed concern over why political parties have failed to create employment opportunities rather than merely preaching. 'The national economy cannot improve due to lack of jobs,' PM Karki said, adding that this has also contributed to the exodus of youth. 'The time has come to reduce public disenchantment,' she reminded. The Head of Government further urged the delegation to propose schemes for economic prosperity and good governance through success in the upcoming elections scheduled for March 5. 'Good governance initiatives led by people from various sectors bring meaningful change,' she noted. Leaders of the Jay Matribhumi Party-Captain KB Limbu, Ramsharan Pande, Govinda Giri, and others-called for stringent action against those responsible for suppressing the September 8–9 Gen Z movement and engaging in corruption.
