Newly appointed Minister Shrestha assumes office

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 12 Newly appointed Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Shraddha Shrestha, assumed office on Friday. After taking the oath of office and secrecy at the President's Office, Sheetal Niwas, Minister Shrestha proceeded to Singha Durbar the same day to formally assume her responsibilities. One of her first decisions as minister was to endorse the revised draft of the National Gender Auditing Work Procedure–2082, prepared to strengthen governance through enhanced gender accountability. The procedure mandates gender auditing across policies, programmes, institutional structures, decision-making processes, and workplaces. Minister Shrestha, who also serves as a senior manager at the Nepal Tourism Board, holds an advanced degree in economic development from Michigan State University, USA. She has also worked as the national coordinator for a UN-affiliated sustainable tourism project.
