Gold hits record high at Rs 258,800 per tola, silver drops
Yellow metal surges Rs 2,200 in a single day; Silver drops Rs 80

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 14 Gold price reached a historic peak in the domestic market on Sunday, climbing Rs 2,200 per tola to cross the previous record of Rs 258,000 set on Asoj 31. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association, fine gold is now trading at Rs 258,800 per tola, up from Rs 256,600 on Friday, making the yellow metal significantly more expensive for Nepali consumers. In contrast to gold's upward trajectory, silver prices declined Rs 80 per tola in a single day after reaching new heights in recent days. The white metal dropped from Rs 3,905 per tola on Friday to Rs 3,825 per tola on Sunday, according to the federation.
