RAUTAHAT, DECEMBER 14 A fire destroyed property worth around Rs 800,000 after breaking out at a house in Madhopur village of Madhavnarayan Municipality late Friday night. Police said the fire started at around 11:50 pm due to an electrical short circuit at the thatched-roof house of Bhojendra Rai Yadav of Madhavnarayan Municipality–6. According to the District Police Office, the blaze destroyed paddy, wheat, jewellery, furniture, clothes and cash amounting to Rs 150,000. Police personnel from Madhopur Police Post, with the help from residents, brought the fire under control within about an hour. DSP Bishnu Pradeep Basyal said the house was completely gutted, but there were no human or livestock casualties. Police are investigating the incident.
