KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 19 Samarthaguru Sangh Nepal is set to organise a series of meditation awareness and practice programmes on December 21 in Kathmandu on the occasion of World Meditation Day, which is officially recognised by the United Nations and observed globally on the same date. According to Manju Sharma, President and National Co-ordinator at the Samarthguru Sangh Nepal, the programme will be held from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm and aims to promote meditation as a practical approach to addressing rising stress, restlessness and dissatisfaction in contemporary society. The organisation stated that increasing dependence on digital entertainment and screen-based activities has adversely affected sleep patterns, mental health and overall lifestyle. It also referred to Nepal Police annual data, which indicates a high number of suicide cases and a significant rise in cybercrime-related complaints in recent years. Against this backdrop, Samarthaguru Sangh Nepal emphasised that the source of lasting happiness lies within oneself, describing meditation as a simple and accessible means of connecting with one's consciousness and improving mental well-being.
Sharma further informed that since December, it has been conducting interactive meditation sessions and real-time practice programmes in various educational institutions as part of a broader campaign to integrate meditation into daily life. She added that regular meditation helps cultivate peace, contentment, emotional stability, self-confidence, positivity and holistic health, contributing to overall personal well-being and long-term success. Marking World Meditation Day, the organisation has called on the public to adopt meditation as a lifestyle practice for a more balanced and joyful life.
