NEPSE gains 47 points as finance sector leads market rally

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 28 The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) rose by 47.55 points, or 1.83%, to close at 2,633.42 on Sunday, signaling a broadly positive trading session. The sensitive index, which tracks 'A' category stocks, gained 1.84%, while the float index, reflecting actively traded shares, rose 1.92%. Market sentiment appeared upbeat, with all sectors closing in the green. The finance sector led the gains, climbing 2.70%, followed by the 'Others' sector at 2.55% and the development sector at 2.28%. No other sector recorded a gain above 2%. Trading activity showed moderate momentum, with 13.47 million shares of 328 companies exchanged across 89,251 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs 5.531 billion. Total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.421 trillion by the end of the session. In terms of individual stock performance, 238 scrips advanced, 21 declined, while Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) recorded the day's steepest loss of 10%.
