Two arrested with 521 kg of marijuana in Morang

Police seize drugs hidden in an ambulance during a late-night check in Kerabari

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 29 Police have arrested two people with a large consignment of marijuana during a late-night operation in Morang district on Sunday. According to police, around 521 kilograms of marijuana were seized from Lafa Tole of Kerabari Rural Municipality–5 on Sunday night. The contraband was found during the inspection of an ambulance. The arrested individuals have been identified as Nischal Rai, 35, of Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality–6 in Dhankuta district, and Khagendra Limbu, 20, of Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality–2. A joint team from the Area Police Offices in Belbari and Kerabari stopped and searched an ambulance bearing registration number Pr 1-06-001 Jh 0004, during which the drugs were recovered. Rai was driving the vehicle, while Limbu was travelling inside the ambulance at the time of the seizure. Police said further investigation is underway to determine the source and intended destination of the seized marijuana.
