Curfew in Birgunj extended till 1 pm

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 6 The District Administration Office (DAO), Parsa, has extended the curfew in Birgunj Metropolitan City until 1:00 pm on Tuesday. The curfew was earlier imposed from 6:00 pm on Monday to 8:00 am on Tuesday to maintain law and order amid possible tensions between two ethnic communities. Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal said efforts were underway to resolve the dispute peacefully. The administration has allowed vehicles providing essential services to operate during the curfew and urged residents to coordinate with security agencies if movement is necessary. Gatherings, rallies and demonstrations remain prohibited within the curfew zone, which extends from Bus Park in the east, Sirsiyapul in the west, Powerhouse Chowk in the north and Shankaracharya Gate in the south.
