KATHMANDU, JANUARY 15 Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that everyone can play a vital role in fostering mutual harmony, cooperation, peace, and national unity. Addressing a Maghi celebration programme organized by the Tharu community in the federal capital on Thursday, PM Karki noted that although the Maghi festival is known by different names among various communities, its underlying significance remains profound. 'We are diverse yet united. We are plural yet together. We are complete because we are many,' she remarked. The Prime Minister emphasized Nepal's unique history of unity, harmony, and coexistence, stating that these values form the nation's original identity and enduring strength. 'We are currently in a critical period, which calls for greater restraint and solidarity,' she said, highlighting that cultural festivals such as Maghi help preserve peace, tolerance, and national cohesion. 'Each of us must contribute from our respective positions to safeguard our unity and collective strength.' She also shared her personal connection with the hardworking Tharu community. 'I had many Tharu friends during my childhood. I have enjoyed traditional Tharu cuisine, so Maghi is a special festival for me as well,' she recalled. Traditional cultural performances were showcased on the occasion.
