National Earthquake Safety Day observed today

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 16 The 27th National Earthquake Safety Day is being observed across the country today to raise public awareness on earthquake risks and preparedness. The day has been marked annually since 2055 BS in memory of the devastating earthquake of 2 Magh 1990 BS (January 16, 1934 AD). The observance aims to promote disaster preparedness and safety measures to minimize loss of life and property. Nepal has suffered major destruction from earthquakes in the past, including the April 25, 2015 earthquake (12 Baisakh 2072 BS), which caused widespread damage across the country.
