KATHMANDU, JANUARY 17 Global IME Bank Limited's flagship initiative, Global Haatbazaar, has completed 50 weeks since its launch, marking a milestone in the promotion and market access of products produced by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Launched on November 6, 2024, the Global Haatbazaar was initiated with the objective of addressing long-standing marketing challenges faced by small entrepreneurs by creating a direct platform to showcase and sell their products. To mark the completion of its 50th week, the bank organized a special fair on Friday at its Kamaladi branch in Kathmandu. Operating every Friday under the slogan 'Entrepreneurs' Products, Global IME's Encouragement,' the haatbazaar has provided a regular marketplace for food producers, farmers, handicraft makers, and sustainable MSMEs. Speaking at the programme, Global IME Bank Chief Executive Officer Surendra Raj Regmi said the initiative has played a supporting role in expanding market access for enterprises contributing to a sustainable and green economy. He noted that the haatbazaar has helped establish direct links between farmers and consumers, ensured fair pricing for agricultural producers, and promoted organic, indigenous, and locally made products. Regmi said the continuity of the programme over 50 weeks reflects the trust of both entrepreneurs and consumers, adding that the bank plans to further expand the initiative in the coming years. The bank stated that beyond providing financial services, it has been implementing various initiatives focused on business skill development and overall entrepreneurial growth as part of its corporate social responsibility.
