UML will contest election, says Chair Oli

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 19 Chairperson of the CPN (UML), KP Sharma Oli, has affirmed that the UML will participate in the upcoming election under any circumstances, reaffirming the party's commitment to democracy. Leader Oli arrived in his hometown of Jhapa today in connection with the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5. He stated, 'The country's peace and security must be maintained. We will participate in the election under any circumstances.' Speaking to the media at Chandragadhi Airport, the former Prime Minister also urged the government to ensure that the election is conducted in a peaceful and impartial environment. According to the election schedule, nominations under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system are set for tomorrow, January 20. UML District Chair Prem Giri stated that the party's central chair, Oli, will be filing his candidacy from Jhapa Electoral Constituency 5. This marks his first visit to Jhapa since resigning from the post of Prime Minister following the September Gen Z movement.
