KATHMANDU, JANUARY 22 The Ather 450 electric scooter has completed a cross-country journey of more than 6,000 kilometres between India and Nepal, underscoring its long-distance capability and operational reliability, according to the company. Two riders from Goa undertook the expedition on a single Ather 450 scooter, beginning their journey on January 9. The route covered Goa, Gorakhpur, Butwal, Chitwan and Kathmandu, traversing highways, varied terrain and international border crossings. Ather said the ride is being documented for possible recognition by the Asia Book of Records, with proposed categories including the longest electric scooter ride by an individual and the first cross-country electric scooter journey of its kind. The riders reached Butwal on January 17, Chitwan on January 18 and Kathmandu on January 19. Meet-and-greet interactions were held at Ather Experience Centres along the route, involving electric vehicle users and technology enthusiasts. Designed, engineered and manufactured in India, the Ather 450 was used throughout the journey without changing vehicles. The company said the expedition demonstrated the scooter's performance across different climates and road conditions, as well as the usability of available charging infrastructure. Ather Energy said the journey was also aimed at strengthening connections among Ather users in India and Nepal, reflecting growing interest in electric mobility across the region.
