Two killed in Rautahat motorcycle collision

RAUTAHAT, JANUARY 23 Two people were killed after two motorcycles collided head-on near a school in Rajdevi Municipality of Rautahat district on Friday morning. The accident occurred in front of a school at Patthara Pokhari along the Gaur–Pipara road section in Rajdevi Municipality–1 at around 11:40 am. According to the District Police Office, Rautahat, the deceased have been identified as Ashok Mahato of Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality–2, who was riding a motorcycle bearing registration number BR 30AF 2370, and Arbind Mahato, 29, son of Rajendra Mahato of Rajdevi Municipality–2, who was riding a motorcycle with registration number Pra-02-03-018 Pa 2346. Police said Arbind Mahato died on the spot, while Ashok Mahato, who sustained serious injuries, died during treatment at the Provincial Hospital, Gaur. DSP Bishnu Pradeep Basyal said a police team led by Inspector Bishwanath Yadav, along with traffic police personnel, has reached the accident site and launched an investigation. The bodies of both deceased have been kept at the Provincial Hospital, Gaur, for post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigation suggests that the collision occurred after both motorcycles lost control due to high speed, police said.
