KATHMANDU, JANUARY 23 Newly elected Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa is assuming office today following the party's second special general convention. Thapa, who previously served as the party's general secretary, was unanimously elected president during the convention held in Kathmandu on January 15. The first meeting of the newly elected working committee was scheduled for 1:00 pm today at the party's central office in Sanepa. The meeting will focus on preparations for the upcoming House of Representatives election and current political developments. Central office secretary Prakash Sharma has called on office-bearers, central committee members and provincial chairpersons to attend the meeting.
