KATHMANDU, JANUARY 24 Traffic along the Mid-Hill Highway has been disrupted following snowfall in Rukum East, police said. The Lukum–Patihalna section of the highway has been obstructed, leaving vehicles, including buses heading from Kathmandu, stranded. A police team led by Inspector Himraj BK from the Kakhri Police Station has been deployed to clear the road, according to District Police Office Rukum East. DSP Umashankar Prasad Yadav said snowfall is continuing, while Chief District Officer Sita Pariyar said coordination is underway with Bhume Rural Municipality to resume traffic, including plans to deploy a backhoe to remove snow. Snowfall has affected daily life in the district, though farmers have welcomed the rain and snow after a prolonged dry spell. Similar weather has been reported in Humla, where snowfall and rain occurred for the first time since mid-August, halting road connectivity to Hilsa via Namkha Rural Municipality.
