NA Elections: NC's Shahi and Rakhal of UML win in Karnali Province

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 25 Candidates from the Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN (UML) emerged victorious in the National Assembly elections held on Sunday in Karnali Province. Lalitjung Shahi of NC from Jumla won the election after securing votes from 26 province-level voters and 100 local-level voters. Similarly, Meena Rakhal from Dailekh won in the women's category, receiving ballots from 26 members of the Province Assembly and 93 local-level voters, according to Election Office Surkhet information officer Nandaram Chaulagain. Shahi's nearest rival, Buddhi Prasad Sharma of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), received 13 votes from province-level voters and 50 from local-level voters. Likewise, Rakhal defeated Anju Mahatara of the NCP, who secured 13 votes at the provincial level and 55 from local voters. A total of six ballots were declared invalid. Of the 40 provincial assembly voters, 39 participated in the election. Similarly, among 158 voters from 79 local levels, 152 cast their ballots.
