KATHMANDU, JANUARY 26 Gold price surged to another historic high in the domestic market on Monday, climbing Rs 5,200 per tola in a single day. Fine gold reached Rs 309,000 per tola on Monday, up from Rs 303,800 per tola on Sunday, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association. Silver prices also broke records, surging Rs 285 per tola to reach Rs 6,765 per tola on Monday. The precious metal was trading at Rs 6,480 per tola on Sunday. The continuous rise in precious metal prices has left consumers in a quandary. With gold and silver becoming increasingly expensive and setting new records almost daily, buyers are uncertain whether to purchase now or wait for a price correction. However, recent trends in both the domestic and international bullion markets suggest no immediate relief is in sight, leaving little indication of when prices might decline. The relentless surge has made precious metals progressively dearer for Nepali consumers, with the domestic market closely mirroring international bullion trends.
