NEPSE falls 1.53% as all sectors end in red

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 27 The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the country's sole secondary market, declined by 42.58 points, or 1.53 percent, on Tuesday, closing at 2,726.51 points. The sensitive index, which tracks the performance of Class 'A' stocks, fell by 1.56 percent, while the float index, measuring actively traded shares, dropped by 1.62 percent. Sector-wise, all sub-indices ended in negative territory except the mutual fund sector, which remained unchanged. The finance sector led the losses, plunging 2.42 percent. All other sectors declined by more than 1 percent, except the trading sector, which shed 0.51 percent. Market turnover also weakened, with total transaction value falling to Rs 14.16 billion from Rs 16.35 billion recorded on Monday. A total of 30,262,710 units of shares of 333 companies were traded through 142,476 transactions during the session. In individual stock movement, 224 scrips declined, while 34 advanced and two remained unchanged. By the close of trading, total market capitalisation stood at Rs 4.577 trillion.
