Unidentified assailant shoots man dead in Siraha

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 30 An unidentified assailant shot and killed a man near a postal highway in Siraha on Friday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Premnath Yadav of Siraha Municipality–1. Yadav was reportedly working on his farmland, located approximately 1.5 kilometers from the district headquarters, when he was attacked. Police said he sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest and died at the scene. Spokesperson for the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Bahadur Pal, said a police team was immediately dispatched to the site upon receiving information about the incident, and an investigation is currently underway. 'Initial findings indicate that the victim was engaged in agricultural work at the time of the shooting,' Pal said. Authorities have not yet identified the suspect or established a motive behind the killing. According to police, the attacker fled the scene shortly after the incident. Security has been tightened along border areas in Siraha and at key checkpoints as part of efforts to track down the suspect.
