Aaha-Rara Gold Cup football championship begins February 10

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 1 Preparations for the Aaha-Rara Gold Cup football championship have been completed, organizers said on Saturday. Organized by Sahara Club Pokhara, the tournament will be held at Pokhara Stadium from February 10 to 21. A total of 12 teams, including four foreign teams and eight domestic sides, will compete for the title. Domestic teams participating in the championship include Nepal Police Club, APF Nepal Club, Machchhindra FC, Jawalakhel Youth Club, Church Boys United, Manang–Marsyangdi Club, Planning Boys United, and Sahara Club Pokhara. According to Sahara Club President Keshav Bahadur Thapa, foreign teams in the tournament include Thunderbolt United of Sikkim (India), Aabha Football Club of Uzbekistan, and Gorkha International Football Club of Hong Kong. Thapa said the prize money has been increased this year. The champions will receive Rs 1.401 million, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs 701,000.
