Minister Aryal calls for coordinated efforts to ensure free and fair election

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 1 Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has called for close coordination and collaboration among all stakeholders, including people's representatives, to ensure a free, fair, and secure election to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 5. During an inspection of the offices of the chief returning officer and election officers at Sano Thimi in Bhaktapur on Sunday, the minister directed chief district officers and members of the district security committee to strengthen coordination at all levels. Minister Aryal arrived in Bhaktapur to take stock of election-related preparations in the district. The office of the chief returning officer has been established at Bhaktapur Durbar Square, while the office of the election officer for Bhaktapur Constituency No. 2 is operating from the training centre of the Agriculture Development Bank in Madhyapur Thimi. It may be noted that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has recently introduced a special mechanism aimed at conducting elections in a free, fair, and peaceful environment by strengthening coordination and cooperation down to the ward level. During discussions with the chief election officer, Minister Aryal reiterated the government's firm commitment to conducting the election successfully and expressed the ministry's readiness to provide the necessary coordination and facilitation. The minister was also briefed on the overall security situation and preparedness for the upcoming election.
