KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 2 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Sunday issued a travel advisory urging Nepali citizens to exercise caution in view of the unfolding developments in the Islamic Republic of Iran. In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry strongly advised Nepali nationals to defer any plans to travel to Iran until the situation returns to normal. Likewise, Nepali citizens currently residing or working in Iran have been advised to leave the country at the earliest possible opportunity through any available means, the advisory stated. The Ministry has also requested Nepali citizens in Iran to keep their travel documents, including passports and identity cards, ready to facilitate a smooth and timely emergency exit, if required. MoFA further reminded citizens to refer to the Ministry's earlier Travel Advisory dated 13 January 2026, which remains in effect. For necessary coordination and assistance, Nepali citizens are requested to remain in contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kathmandu, and the Embassy of Nepal in Doha, which looks after Nepal's consular affairs related to Iran.
