Bhushita Vasistha 'Spring Soak' poetry recital enchants audience

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 2 Literary figure Bhushita Vasistha captivated audiences on Friday and Saturday evenings with a poetry recital at Nepalaya's 'r' Sala in Kalikasthan, blending classical and contemporary works in a mesmerizing performance. In a statement, Nepalaya noted that Bhushita, who is actively engaged in literary study and exploration, had previously presented her metrical poetry on the Paleti stage nearly seven years ago. This year's edition featured eighteen poetic works, showcasing creations by both established and contemporary poets. The program opened with the poem 'Spring Season' by Somnath Sharma Sigdel and included works by eminent poets such as Motiram Bhatt, Lekhnath Paudyal, Laxmi Prasad Devkota, Madhav Prasad Ghimire, Lokpriya Devkota, Agni Prasad Sharma Baral, and Bhairav Aryal. Accompanied by live musicians, Bhushita invited the audience to experience the evening as a 'Spring Soak,' immersing themselves in the essence of her verses. During the recital, she also presented poems authored by her father, poet Bharatmani Bhattarai, alongside her own original compositions.
The event concluded with Laxmi Prasad Devkota's 'To a Beautiful Courtesan,' composed in the Panchchamar meter, which resonated melodiously throughout the recital. Musicians Dineshraj Regmi (keyboard), Milan Ghimire (flute), Bikram Karki (guitar), and Parasmani Subedi (percussion and effects) provided accompaniment. At the conclusion of the event, Aavas whos is also composer, musician and the hosts announced the schedule for the upcoming March, April, and May editions of Paleti: Durga Kharel will revive classic compositions from Darjeeling in March; singer Pawan Gole will perform in April; and musician Ranjit Gajmer will be featured in May. Paleti is a short musical program traditionally held on the last Friday and Saturday of each English month.
