KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 4 With 29 days remaining until the House of Representatives (HoR) elections, political parties have submitted closed lists for the proportional representation (PR) system showing a higher number of women candidates than men. According to the Election Commission, a total of 3,135 candidates from 63 political parties feature in the final PR closed list. Of them, 1,772 are women and 1,363 are men. The Commission published the final list on Tuesday in line with Section 29 of the House of Representatives Election Act, 2074 BS, and Rule 16(2) of the Election Regulations. Meanwhile, 76 names were removed from the closed list after being declared ineligible. These included 21 individuals blacklisted by the Credit Information Center, 25 candidates also listed under the Provincial Assembly PR system, 10 who failed to pay prescribed fines, one not registered as a voter from a backward region, and 10 removed at the request of respective political parties.
