KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 6 Hundreds of residents from remote villages around Ghatichhina in Pokhara have received prescription eyeglasses under a humanitarian initiative facilitated by the Embassy of Israel in Nepal. The programme was led by four Israeli optometrists, M. Yosifovich, Y. Segal, N. Weiss and D. Golduser, who had visited Pokhara two months ago to conduct free eye check-ups for local residents, including children and elderly people in Pokhara-23. Following their return to Israel, the optometrists prepared prescription eyeglasses based on the examinations and sent them to Nepal for distribution. The eyeglasses handover programme was held on February 5 in Ghatichhina, Pokhara. Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Israel, Ms. Janan Bebar, visited the community and formally handed over the eyeglasses to the beneficiaries. During the programme, she also interacted with local residents and Nepali partners involved in implementing the initiative. According to the Embassy, the initiative highlights the strong people-to-people relations between Israel and Nepal and reflects Israel's continued commitment to supporting community well-being across Nepal through professional expertise and cooperation.
